EvelynWoodard.JPG

I am a qualified Career Guidance Counsellor with 18 years experience of guiding and supporting students, parents and adults through various stages in their career journeys. I am the Chairperson of the Kerry Branch of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and I was PRO for 7 years prior to this.

I have 25 years’ experience in the education sector. Since 1999 I have worked with the State Examinations Commissioner as an examiner. I am a Wellbeing Associate with Junior Cycle for Teachers where I have been involved in curriculum development and delivery of Continuous Professional Development to Guidance Counsellors nationally face-to-face and via webinars.

An important part of the work as a Career Guidance Counsellor over the years has involved building up contacts and relationships with all colleges, universities, training providers and employers around Ireland and making links with universities abroad to ensure that I can access the most up to date information effectively and efficiently for clients. I engage in Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis to ensure that I keep up with the most recent developments in employment, education & training and wellbeing. I write a weekly careers’ column in the Killarney Advertiser. I regularly speak on local and national media on career and guidance issues, including, Newstalk, Radio Kerry, RTÉ Radio 1 and Raidio na Gaeltachta.
